As more
traditional manufacturing is increasingly replaced with the
requirement to assemble units for stock from a number of sub-assemblies,
the efficient management of this process becomes a critical
element in today's competitive marketplace. Designed to operate
seamlessly with our other software modules in a totally integrated
supply chain solution, the SIRONA Light Manufacturing System
is written to use all the latest graphical user interface
(GUI) features of Progress, the award winning software environment.

The
SIRONA Manufacturing module allows the creation of a bill
of materials that comprises of either individual stock items
or previously made assemblies along with the quantities required
for each component.
Once
the component detail of an assembly item is set up in the
stock file, each time you wish to produce the assembly you
make a "MAKE ORDER", specifying the number of kits
you wish to make. This process details the components required
and the quantity of each. The processing, in terms of stock
allocation, picking of components and putting away of finished
goods is fully integrated with the SIRONA Stock Control module.
The
system will generate the details required to instruct warehouse
staff where to put the made items in the warehouse. This confirmation
will adjust both the quantities of the components and the
kits on the system.
All
the postings to the General Ledger will be automatically created
and can be posted to separate General Ledger codes.
If
you fail to make the number of items specified on the make
order, any allocated stock will be de-allocated and can be
left in the make area or moved back into stock locations.
The
system can automatically assign a revision number when the
bill of materials is amended, and incorporates this in batch
numbering sequences for stock traceability.
